Owen Hughes, Cochwillan, Llanllechid, Farmer : Will 1836.

In the name of God Amen.

I Owen Hughes of Cochwillan in the Parish of Llanllechid in the County of Carnarvon, Farmer being of sound perfect and Disposing Mind, Memory and Understanding, but calling to mind the mortality of my body do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following :
That is to say I give and bequeath to my son Howel Hughes the sum of Fifty Pounds.
Also I give and bequeath to my son Thomas Hughes the sum of One Hundred and Forty Pounds.
Also I give and bequeath to my son Rowland Hughes the sum of Two Hundred Pounds.
Also I give and bequeath to my Grandson Henry Hughes by my son Howel Hughes the sum of Ten Pounds.
Also I give and bequeath to Anne Jane Hughes my Grand Daughter by my son Howel Hughes the sum of Ten Pounds.
Also I gave and bequeath to the Trustees of the Calvanistic Methodists Chapel at Gatehouse in this Parish, towards liquidating the debts for erecting the same, or for altering or repairing the same the sum of Five Pounds, and a receipt signed by any two of the said Trustees, to be a sufficient acknowledgment for the same.

And as for the rest residue or remainder of my Goods, Chattels, Household Furniture and Stuff, Farming Stock, and Implements of Husbandry, my personal and real Estates and Effects, whatsoever or wheresoever, of what nature, kind or quality soever the same may be, and not already bequeathed, I give and bequeath all the same to, and equally between my dear wife Anne Hughes and my two sons Hugh Hughes and Owen Hughes, one third part each, alike share, and my Will is, and I do hereby empower my dear wife Anne Hughes to give, dispose or bequeath the sum of One Hundred and Twenty Pounds out of her share as she pleases, which sum I giveentirely at her disposal, and further my Will is that the rest or residue of my dear wife's share (over One Hundred and Twenty Pounds) be given, and I give and bequeath the same after her decease to and equally between my tow sons Hugh Hughes and Owen Hughes, before named, which last named two sons Hugh Hughes and Owen Hughes and my dear wife Anne Hughes I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint Joint Executors of this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all former Wills and Testaments and ratifying and confirming this to be my last Will and Testament.

And further should any of the money I have laid out on Securities be unrecoverable, my will is that my Executors do suffer only one half of such loss, and the other half of such loss to be suffered equally between my other Legacies in proportion to the amount of their Legacies.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set and subscribed my hand and seal, this eighth day of September in the year of our Lord, One thousand eight hundred and thirt six.

Signed, Sealed, Published and declared by the said Testator Owen Hughes as and for his last Will and Testament, in the presence of us, who at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other, have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses.

On the Eleventh day of November in the year of our Lord, One thousand eight hundred and thirty six the afore written Will, was insinuated, proved, approved and in Common form of Law decredd valid and Administration granted to the within named Executors, Hugh Hughes, Owen Hughes and Anne Hughes, they having been first sworn in Common form and that the whole of the Goods, Chattels and Credits of the deceased Testator do not amount in value to the sum of Eight hundred Pounds.

The Testator died on the 25th day of October last.

A True and Perfect Inventory of the Goods, Chattels, Household Furniture and all the Personal Estate of Owen Hughes of Cochwillan in the Parish of Llanllechid in the County of Carnarvon, Farmer lately deceased.
