Jane James, Bryn engan Llangybi, Spinster : Will 1797.

In the name of God Amen.
I Jane James of Brynengan in the Parish of Llangybi and County of Carnarvon, Spinster, being mindful of my mortality do this seventeenth day of September in the year of our Lord 1793 make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner following.

I give and bequeath unto Robert Griffith now of Penmaen Bodfel in the Parish of Llannor the sum of twenty pounds and my clock.

Also I give and bequeath unto Griffith Williams, Robert Williams and Anne Williams, children of my late Niece Jane Griffith of Drwsdeugoed in the Parish of Llanarmon the sum of thirteen pounds six xhillings and eight pence a piece to be paid to them respectively at their respective ages of twenty one years or days of marriage, which shall first happen. And in case any of them shall die before the age of twenty one years or marriage then I give the share of him or her so dying unto the survivor, survivors, share and share alike.

Also I give and bequeath unto Griffith Humphrey, Thomas Humphrey and Anne Humphrey, children of my late Niece Mary Williams of Tu yn y werglodd in the Parish of Llangybi aforesaid the sum of ten pounds a piece to be paid to them respectively at their respective ages of twenty one years or days of marriage which shall first happen. And in case any of them shall die before the age of twenty one years or marriage then I give the share of him her or them so dying unto the survivor or survivors, share and share alike.

Also I give and bequeath unto my Niece Ellinor Williams wife of William Roberts of Pwllheli, shoemaker the sum of two pounds.

Also I give and bequeath unto Mary Meredith wife of Evan Humphrey of Llangybi aforesaid the sum of four pounds.

Also I give and bequeath unto Elizabeth Mark of Brynengan, widow who now attends me the sum of ten pounds if she continues to attend me to the day of my decease and not otherwise.

Also I give and bequeath unto Jane Anne Williams, my cousin William Williams Ty hir Gentleman's daughter, my large silver soup spoon marked or engraved thus 2-10-12 and a Lion, my two small silver tea spoons marked with letters E O, my silver sugar tongues and my gold ring.

Also I give and bequeath unto Elizabeth Jones, John Prichard of Coed Cae Du in the Parish of Llanystumdwys' daughter my Stripe Tieken Feather Bed, the only one I have of that colour.

I request that my bedstead, feather bed of white tieken and boulster of striped tieken and two sheets, three blankets and quilts and the armchair which are now in the room I am in at Brynenagn should be left there for the benefit of the Methodist Society who belong to the Chapel of Brynengan or for the use of any sick or infirm person whom the Trustees of the said Society shall appoint to use.

All the rest and residue of my personal estate whatsoever and where soever and of what kind and nature soever the same may be and not herein before given and disposed of after payment of my debts legacies and funeral expenses I do give and bequeath unto my Cousin William Williams of Tu hir aforesaid, his Executors, Administrators and Assigns to and for his and their own use and benefit absolutely.

And I do hereby constitute and appoint my said Cousin William Williams Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year firsy above written.

Signed sealed and delivered by the said Testator as and for her last Will and Testament in our presence who at her request in her presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto.

On the 11th day of August 1797 the above and within written Will was insinuated proved and in common form of Law decreed valid and Administration granted to the within named Executor, he being first personally sworn on the Holy Evangelists as the Law directs.
