Thomas Rice, Meillionydd, Llanfaelrhys, Gentleman : Will 1839.

In the name of God Amen.
I Thomas Rice of Meillionydd in the Parish of Llanfaelrhys in the County of Carnarvon and Diocese of Bangor, Gentleman, being in tolerable health of body, and of sound mind, memory and understanding, praised be Almighty God for the same, do, this fourteenth day of December in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and thirty eight (1838), make publish and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following; viz.

First I give and bequeath unto my daughter Catherine Griffith the sum of one hundred pounds, and if she has or leaves lawful issue, then and in that case I give and bequeath unto my two friends Owen Griffith of Meillionydd Bach and John Prichard of Cruga, the sum of two hundred pounds in trust and to the use of such lawful issue of my said daughter Catherine Griffith, share and share alike. I charge my Executor the keep, maintenance and support of my beloved wife Elizabeth Rice, during the term of her natural life with every comfort in meat, drink, clothing and lodging free.

And subject to the payment of the above legacies, the payment of my just debts, funeral expenses, the proving of this my Will and the keeping of my beloved wife as aforesaid; I give devise and bequeath all my real and personal estate, of what kind, nature or quantity, soever the same may be or consist of at the time of my decease, unto my son Evan Rice, now living with me, to him, his heirs and assigns for ever.

Lastly I nominate constitute and appoint my last Will and Testament hereby revoking and making void every other Will or Wills heretofore by me made, declaring this and this only to be my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal, the day and year first before written.

Signed, sealed, published and declared by the said Testator Thomas Rice, as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us, who in his presence, at his request and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses.

On the first day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty nine, the within written Will was insinuated proved approved and in common form of law decreed valid and Administration granted to the within named Evan Rice, Sole Executor, he being first sworn in common form of Law, and that the whole of the Goods, Chattels, Credits and Effects of the said deceased do not amount in value to the sum of eight hundred pounds.

A true and perfect Inventory of all the Goods, Credit and Effects of the late Thomas Rice of Meillionydd in the Parish of Llanfaelrhys in the County of Carnarvon and Diocese of Bangor, Farmer, deceased. Made and appraised by us this fourth day of July 1939.
