MR. HUGH JONES, LLANDDEINIOLEN, CAERNARVONSHIRE.

On Saturday last Mr. Hugh Jones, of Corlanau, was buried in the church yard at Llandinorwic, by the Rev. Mr. Edwards, the incumbent.

The deceased was a hard working layman in the Church of England, taking a part in almost every church lay meeting, and he was second to none of those who attended and took an active part in these meetings. His addresses were always original and striking, evincing great earnestness and an uncommon talent as a speaker. Previous to his death he had been ill for several months, and as his departure drew near his pains were great; he was, however, a patient sufferer, and his last words were that he had a "sure hope, through faith."

It was his wish that all who came to his funeral should join together in the hymns which it is customary to sing on these solemn occasions; for, he said, "In heaven there is no distinction between churchmen and dissenters. In accordance with this wish the singing was general. The verses, too, which had been selected by the deceased, were such as were well known.

The church has lost, in Hugh Jones, an able layman, but though dead, he yet speaketh, and may others soon arise to fill the place of the departed.
