William Thomas, Penlon, Pwllheli, Architect : Will 1855.

This is the last Will and Testament of me William Thomas in the County of Carnarvon - Architect.

First I give and devise into my dear wife Catherine Thomas all that my messuage or dwelling house herediment and premises situate in Penlon in the said Town of Pwllheli and now in the tenure or occupation of the Reverend William Griffith his under tenants or assigns. Also all that my messuage or dwelling house herediment and premises situate in Penlon aforesaid in the said Town of Pwllheli and now or late in the tenure of occupation of Griffith Williams, Master Mariner.

Also all that my messuage or dwelling house herediment and premises situate in Penlon aforesaid in the said Town of Pwllheli and now or late in the tenure or occupation of Thomas Williams, Master Mariner. Also all that messuageor dwelling house herediment and premises situate in Penlon afroesaid in the said Town of Pwllheli and now or late in the tenure or occupation of the Reverend Rees Philpot Griffith.

Also all that messuage or dwelling house herediment and premises situate in Penlon aforesaid in the said Town of Pwllheli and now or late in the tenure or occupation of Jane Evans, Spinster.

Also all that my messuage or dwelling house herediment and premises situate in Penlon aforesaid in the said Town of Pwllheli and now or late in the tenure or occupation of Elizabeth Harriett Morris, Spinster.

Also all that my messuage or dwelling house herediment amd premises situate in Penlon aforesaid in the said Town of Pwllheli and now in my own occupation.

Also all that my messuage or dwelling house tenement farmland herediment and premises situate in the Parish of Llaniestyn in the said County of Carnarvon commonly called and known by the name of Bwlchygroes otherwise Bwlchygroes isaf and now or late in the tenure or occupation of Hugh Evans his under tenant or assigns.

And also all that my messuage or dwelling house tenement farmland herediment and premises situate in the said Parish of Llaniestyn in the said County of Carnarvon commonly called and known by the name Tynewydd late in the tenure or occupation of Robert Hughes, Farmer and now of William Thomas, Farmer, his under tenants or assigns. To have and to hold the said messuages or dwelling houses tenement lands herediments and premises with the appurtenances thereto respectively belonging unto and by my said wife Catherine Thomas and her assigns to and for the term of her natural life.

And from and after her decease I give and devise all those my said messuages herediments and premises situate in Penlon aforesaid in the said Town of Pwllheli and now or late in the several tenures or occupations of the said William Griffith, Griffith Williams and Thomas Williams with their respective appurtenances unto my son Thomas Williams, his heirs and assigns for ever. And all those my said messuages or dwelling houses herediaments and premises situate in Penlon aforesaid in the Town of Pwllheli and now or late in the several tenures or occupations of the said rees Philpot Griffith and Jane Jones with their respective appurtenances I give and devise unto my daughter Elizabeth Evans and her assigns to and for the term of her natural life and from and after her decease I give and devise the same unto her daughter Elizabeth Davies, her heirs and assigns for ever.

And all those my said messuages dwelling houses herediments and premises situate in Penlon aforesaid in the said Town of Pwllheli and now or late in the several tenures or occuaptions of the said Elizabeth Harriett Morris and myself and all those my said messuages or dwelling houses tenements farms lands herediments and premises called Bwlchygroes otherwise Bwlchygroes isaf and Tynewydd situate in the said Parish of Llaniestyn in the said County of Carnarvon and now or late in the several tenures or occupations of the said Hugh Evans and William Thomas with their respective appurtenances I give and devise unto my son Evan Thomas his heirs and assigns for ever. But subject nevertheless to the annuity or rent charge herewith given and bequeathed.

Also I give and devise and bequeath unto my son William Thomas during his life from and after the decease of my said wife the yearly annuity or rent charge of thirty pounds sterling to be found and payable out of my said messuages or dwelling houses tenements lands herediments and premises herein before given and devised unto my son Evan Thomas his heirs and assigns for ever and to be paid half yearly on the thirteenth day of May and the thirteenth day of November in each year by even and equal half yearly portions with power for my said son William Thomas to distrain for the same respectively in case they shall not respectively be paid within thirty days next after such respective days of payment, the first payment thereof to begin and be made at such of the said respective days of payment as shall first happen after the decease of my said wife.

As to all the rest residue and remainder of my real and personal estate of what nature or kind soever and where soever actuate after payment of my debts testamentary and funeral expenses by my Executrix hereinafter named and appointed I give devise and bequeath the same unto my said wife Catherine Thomas her heirs executors administrators and assigns for ever to and for her own absolute use and benefit.

And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said wife Catherine Thomas Sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament and I do hereby revoke and make void all and every Will and Wills by me at any time heretofore made and do declare this to be my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty first day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty three.

Signed sealed published and declared by the said William Thomas the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses thereto.

This Will and Statement marked A was produced and shown to Catherine Thomas and is the Will and Testament marked A referred to in her affidavit sworn this third day of February 1854 at Bangor in the County of Carnarvon. Catherine Thomas the Executrix of the Will named was sworn in common form and she further made oath that the whole of the Personal Goods Chattels and Credits of the Testator within the Diocese of Bangor was under the value of fifteen hundred pounds.
