John Prichard, Plas yn dre, High Street North, Pwllheli, Draper : Will 1845.

In the name of God Amen.

I John Prichard of Plasyndre, in the Town of Pwllheli, in the Parish of Denio and County of Carnarvon, Shopkeeper, being in tolerable health of body and of sound disposing mind memory and understanding, praised be Almighty God for the same, do this seventeenth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty six (1836), make publish and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following. Viz.

First, I give and bequeath unto my daughter Eleanor Ellis all and every share and part that I have in the “North and South Wales Bank”.

Also I give and bequeath unto my said daughter Eleanor Ellis every share and Part I have of the Brig Alert of Pwllheli.

Also I give devise and bequeath unto my beloved wife Mary Prichard my present dwelling house and garden, called Plasyndre and my other house adjoining it with all the premises and appurtenances belonging to them, situate lying and being in High Street, in the Town of Pwllheli, during the term of her natural life, if she continues my Widow, subject to all Interest due thereon and likewise subject to the annual payment of ten pounds to my daughter Eleanor Ellis during her life, and after the death of my wife or her again marrying, then I give devise and bequeath the said houses and premises unto my daughter Eleanor Ellis during her life, but I nevertheless subject to her paying the Interest thereon as aforesaid, and after her decease, I give devise and bequeath the said houses and all premises unto my Nephew John Evans, son of my brother Hugh Evans of Tynymaes Criccieth, to him his heirs and assigns for ever. As to all the rest, residue and remainder of all my personal estate, of what kind, nature or quality soever the same may be or consist of at the time of my decease, subject to the payment of my just debts, funeral expenses and the proving of this my Will. I give and bequeath the same and every part unto my wife Mary Prichard, and I appoint my said wife Sole Executrix of this my Will, but should she again marry, then she is only to have Interest in our marriage settlement; and upon her so marrying, the said residue to go immediately to my daughter Eleanor Ellis absolutely.

I appoint Evan Jones of Penychain and Owen Jones of Carnarvon, Trustees in this my Will.

Lastly I hereby revoke and make void all and every other Will or Wills heretofore by me made, declaring this, and this only to be my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year first before written.

Whereas I the above named John Prichard of Pwllheli have made and duly executed my last Will and Testament in writing, bearing date the 17th instant, and thereby given and bequeathed “all and every share and part that I have in the North and South Wales Bank” unto my daughter Eleanor Ellis. Now I do hereby revoke and make void the said bequest or legacy so given unto my said daughter Eleanor Ellis, and do give and bequeath unto her Three Shares only in the North and South Wales Bank.

And I do hereby declare this present writing to be a codicil to my said Will and to be annexed thereto and taken as part thereof. And do confirm my aforesaid Will in every particular thereof that is not altered or revoked. In witness whereof I have to this codicil set my hand and seal the 24th day of December in the year of our Lord 1836.

On the sixth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty five , the aforesaid written Will and Codicil were insinuated proved approved and in common form of Law decreed vlaid, and Administration granted to the aforesaid or within named Mary Prichard, Widow and Sole Executrix, she having been first sworn in common form of Law, and that the whole of the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said deceased do not amount in value to the sum of Two Hundred Pounds.

The Testator died on the 23rd day of December 1844.

A true and perfect Inventory of all the Goods Chattels Effects and Credits of the late John Prichard of Pwllheli in the Parish of Denio, County of Carnarvon and Diocese of Bangor, Grocer, deceased made and appraised by us (Gratis) this 6th day of March in the year of our Lord 1845.
