Griffith Jones, High Street, Pwllheli, Ironmonger : Will 1844.

This is the last Will and Testament of me Griffith Jones of Pwllheli in the County of Carnarvon, Ironmonger.

I give and bequeath to my half brother Richard Jones the sum of one hundred pounds.

I give and bequeath to John Jones, Richard Jones and Griffith Jones children of my said half brother Richard Jones the sum of twenty pounds a piece.

I give and bequeath to my half brother John Prichard the sum of one hundred pounds.

I give and bequeath to Jane Jones, John Prichard, Griffith Prichard and Laura Prichard, children of my said half brother John Prichard the sum of twenty pounds a piece.

I give and bequeath to Jane Prichard one of the daughters of my said half brother John Prichard and now residing with me the sum of four hundred pounds.

I give and bequeath to Ellin Williams now in my service the sum of ten pounds all which said several legacies I direct to be paid by my Executrix hereinafter named within two years next after my decease.

I give and devise all that my undivided moiety half part or share of and in all those nine several messuages or dwelling houses hereditaments and premises situate at Penrhydliniog in the Parish of Denio in the said County of Carnarvon to my sister Ellin Roberts and her assigns for and during the term of her natural life and from and immediately after her decease.

I give and devise the same to my cousin David Jones son of John Jones of Penrhyndeudraeth in the County of Merioneth, Farmer, and to his heirs and assigns for ever.

I give devise and bequeath all that my leasehold messuages or dwelling houses and premises situate in High Street in the Town of Pwllheli in the County of Carnarvon now in the occupation of my said half brother Richard Jones to my said sister Ellin Roberts and her assigns for and during the term of her natural life and from and immediately after her decease.

I give devise and bequeath the same to such of the said sons of my said half brother Richard Jones as may happen to be the last surviving son at the time of the decease of my said sister Ellin Roberts to his Executors Administrators and assigns during the residue of the lease granted of the said messuage or dwelling house and premises.

I give devise and bequeath all that my leasehold messuage or dwelling house garden and premises, situate at Portmadoc in the said County of Carnarvon, now in the occupation of David Jones, Mariner, to my said sister Ellin Roberts and her assigns for and during the term of her natural life and from and immediately after her decease I give devise and bequeath the same to my cousin David Pugh, son of David Pugh of Morfa Harlech in the said County of Merioneth, and to his Executors, Administrators and assigns during the residue of the term granted in and by the lease thereof.

I will and direct that my iron chest and the portrait of my late father David Jones and my own portrait shall be considered as heirlooms and be taken used and enjoyed by the person or persons who for the time being may be in the possession and enjoyment of the real estate of my said late father under the limitations contained in his Will and shall continue annexed thereto as long as the law will permit.

As to all the rest residue and remainder of my personal estate and effects I give and bequeath the same to my said sister Ellin Roberts absolutely and I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said sister Ellin Roberts Sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking and making void all Will and Testaments by me at any time hereafter made and declare this to be my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I the said Griffith Jones the Testator have hereunto set my hand and seal the seventh day of February, one thousand eight hundred and forty four.

On the twenty eighth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty four (1844) the within written Will with one codicil was insinuated proved approved and in common form of Law decreed valid and Administration granted to the within named Eleanor Roberts, Sole Executrix named in the said Will, she being first sworn in common form of Law and that the whole of the Goods Chattels Effects and Credits of the said deceased do not amount in value to the sum of one thousand pounds.

The Testator died on the 9th of April 1844.

Whereas I Griffith Jones of Pwllheli, in the County of Carnarvon, Ironmonger have made and duly executed my last Will and Testament in writing bearing date on or about the seventh day of February last past and have thereby made several bequests and am now desirous of making further bequests.

I give and bequeath five shares which I hold in the capital stock of the North and South Wales Bank to my Niece Anne Jones of Portmadoc in the County of Carnarvon and her assigns for and during the term of her natural life and from and immediately after her decease I give and bequeath the said five shares to Elizabeth Jones daughter of the said Anne Jones absolutely for ever.

I give and bequeath to my servant Ellis Evans the sum of five pounds which I direct to be paid to him immediately after my decease . And I do ordain and declare this present writing to be a codicil to my said Will and that the same shall be annexed thereto and taken as aprt thereof. In witness whereof I have to this Codicil set my hand and seal the twenty first day of March one thousand eight hundred and forty four.
