Rowland Morgan Jones, Pwllheli, Malster : Will 1798.
In the name of God Amen.I Rowland Morgan Jones of Pwllheli in the County of Carnarvon, Malster being sick in body but of sound mind memory and understanding do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say).
I give devise and bequeath unto Mary Harris of Gwynfryn in thw County of Carnarvon, Widow and Cadwalader Jones of Brynmoelyn in the said County, Yeoman, their Executors Administrators and Assigns the sum of one hundred and fifty pounds of lawful money of Great Britain. Upon the special trust and confidence that they and the survivors of them and the Executors Administrators or Assigns of such survivors do and shall within six calendar months next after my decease place out the same at the best Interest that can or may be had or gotten for the same upon one or more good and sufficient security or securities either real or personal and the Increase and Profits arising therefrom shall and will by the said Mary Harris and Cadwalader Jones and the survivor of them and the Executors and Administrators of such survivor be laid out in the tuition and maintenance of my son Rice Jones during his minority.
And upon this further trust that they the said Mary Harris and Cadwalader Jones and the survivor of them and the Executors and Administrators of such survivor do and shall as soon as my said son Rice Jones shall attain the full age of fifteen years or as soon after as conveniently can be levy and raise out of the said sum of one hundred and fifty pounds secured as aforesaid a sum not exceeding twenty pounds to be given as a provision for the apprenticing my said son Rice Jones to any person or persons in such Art Trade Science or Occupation as the said Mary Harris and Cadwalader Jones shall think most proper.
And upon further Trust that they and every of them do and shall rain and levy the Remainder of the said sum of one hundred and fifty pounds so secured as aforesaid and pay the same to my said son Rice Jones when he shall either attain the age of twenty one years, day of marriage or commence in trade whichever shall first happen. But if my said son Rice Jones shall happen to depart this life before he shall attain his said age of twenty one years, day of marriage or commencement in trade as aforesaid.
Then I give devise and bequeath so much of the said sum of one hundred and fifty pounds as shall remain unspent in the tuition maintenance and apprentiship as aforesaid of my said son unto my dear wife Ann Jones, Theophilus and Mary my younger children, share and share alike.
I give and bequeath all that my messuage or dwelling house garden malt house hereditaments and premises with the appurtenances where I now dwell called Ty Coch which I hold by or under a lease from William Griffith, Gentleman and all my estate farm and interest therin yet to come and unexpired and also all the rest and residue of my personal estate whatsoever and where soever the same may be or consist of at the time of my decease after paying the legacy herein before bequeathed and all my just debts funeral expenses unto my said dear wife Ann Jones, Theophilus and Mary, my younger children as aforesaid, share and share alike.
And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said dear wife Ann Jones Sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking and making void all former Will or Wills by me at any time heretofore made. And I do hereby ordain constitute and appoint Evan Rice of Rhiw in the said County Clerk and Thomas Rice of Meyllionydd in the said County Gentleman to have the Government Care Management and Tuition of my said younger children during their respective minorities. In witness whereof I the said Rowland Morgan Jones have to this my last Will and Testament contained in two sheets of paper subscribed my name to the first sheet and set my hand and seal to this last sheet this Twenty eighth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety seven.

the presence of the said Testator and of each other.

On the 5th day of February in the year of our Lord 1798 the above or within written Will was insinuated proved approved and in common form of Law decreed valid and Administration granted to the within named Executrix Anne Jones, she being first personally sworn on the Holy Evangelists (having at the same time alledged that the whole of the Goods Chattels and Credits of the Testator Rowland Morgan Jones doth not amount in value to the sum of Three Hundred Pounds) as the Law directs.
