Elizabeth Griffith, Llecheingan, Carnguwch, Widow : Will 1795.

In the name of God Amen.

I Elizabeth Griffith of Llecheingan in the Parish of Carngiwch in the County of Carnarvon, Widow, being sick and weak in body but of sound mind memory and understanding, do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say.

First I give and bequeath unto my son Griffith Davies my clock and my greatest brass pan.

Also I give and bequeath unto my son John Davies two guineas. Also I give and bequeath unto my son Richard Davies three guineas to detain from the money which he is indebted to me, and likewise I give and dispose unto my said son Richard Davies my smallest brass pan.

Also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Margaret Davies two guineas.

Also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Davies two guineas and one sack otherwise four bushel of barley.

Also I give and bequeath unto my grandson Robert Davies otherwise Griffith my cupboard which I use to keep the bread.

Also I give and bequeath unto my grandson David Roberts sixteen pounds of lawful British money to be paid by my Executor according to the direction and demand of the greatest number of his Guardian hereafter mention and the end of twelve month time after my decease.

Likewise I give and bequeath unto the aforesaid David Roberts all the rest and residue of my household stuff, but what hath been heretofore by me disposed, and also as much corn meal flour cheeses woollen and linen of all kinds which I freely possess, that shall be in the house where I shall dwell at the time of my decease except my funeral necessaries and the four bushel of barley which hath before excepted and the household stuff are to be sold by his Guardian as their names shall be soon hereafter except the press cupboard, best bedstead, two pairs of the best sheets, three best blankets and the best bed coverlet, the money that may received by selling such of my household stuff with the afore written sixteen pounds I allow unto the aforesaid David Roberts to be divided towards his maintenance, clothing and that he may be placed by his Guardian to a creditable craftsman to be an apprentice at a moderation of age and ableness of body to learn trade, depending upon my said daughter Elizabeth will maintain the said David Roberts at a reasonable rate until such time that he will be an apprentice.

Hereby disposing of the Guardianship custody of my said Grandson David Roberts unto my three sons that is to say Griffith Davies, John Davies and Richard Davies and to the survivor of them, hoping they will do their utmost endeavour to see justice done him, and in case that the aforesaid David Roberts shall happen to die before he attains to the age of fifteen years and some of my devises to him be left or remain after him in such case of his decease. I give and dispose two pounds of the same unto my grandson John Roberts provided that as much be left, and if such of my devises to the said David Roberts shall remain after the dispose of the above ten pounds.

I give and bequeath unto my aforesaid sons Griffith Davies, John Davies and Richard Davies to be equally divided between them share and share alike.

I give and bequeath unto my grandson Thomas Roberts one shilling.

Also I give and bequeath unto my grandson David Robert Thomas one shilling.

Also I give and bequeath unto my grandson Richard Roberts one shilling.

Also I give and bequeath unto my grandson Hugh Roberts one shilling.

Also I give and bequeath unto my grand daughter Elizabeth Roberts one shilling.

Also I give and bequeath unto my grand daughter Mary Roberts one shilling.

Also I give and bequeath unto my grand daughter Margaret Roberts one shilling.

Also I give and bequeath unto my grand daughter Lydia Roberts one shilling.

And as to all the rest of my personal estate and effects whatsoever and where soever and of what nature and kind soever I give and bequeath the same after the payment and satisfaction of all my just debts legacies and funeral expenses, unto my said son Griffith Davies his Executors Administrators and Assigns and I do hereby constitute and appoint my said son Griffith Davies Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all former Wills by me heretofore made and declaring this to be my last Will and Testament.

In witness whereof I the said Elizabeth Griffith have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty eighth day of January in the year of Our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety five. Signed sealed published and declared by the said Elizabeth Griffith in the presence of us Rowland Hughes Robert Humphreys Robert Owen On the 18th day of February in the year of our Lord 1795 the above within written Will was insinuated proved approved and in common form of Law decreed valid and Administration granted to the within named Executor Griffith Davies of the Parish of Carngiwch in the County of Carnarvon, he being first personally sworn on the Holy Evangelists (having alledged that the whole of the Goods Chattels and Credits of the Testatrix Elizabeth Griffith, doth not amount in value to the sum of twenty pounds) as the Law directs.

On the 7th day of March 1795 probate of this Will was granted to Griffith Davies the so of the deceased and Sole Executor as named in the said Will having been first sworn duly to Administer.
