Evan Jones, Penychain, Abererch, Yeoman : Will 1815.

In the name of God Amen.

I Evan Jones of Penychain in the County of Carnarvon farmer do make publish and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following. I give devise and bequeath One annuity or Yearly Rent Charge of Ten Pounds unto my dear wife Anne and her assigns for and during the term of her natural life to be yearly issuing and payable out of all that my mesuage tenement lands herediments and premises called Bryncelyn situate lyibg and being in the Parish of Pistill in the said County of Carnarvon and I do hereby charge the same mesuage tenement and premises with the sum of One hundred and fifty pounds, which I also hereby direct to be paid to my Executrix and Executor herein after named within twelve months next after my decease for the Increase of my Personal Estate and subject to the said annuity or Yearly Rent Charge of ten pounds and to the payment of the said sum of one hundred and fifty pounds.

I give and devise the same mesuage tenement and premises with the Appertanensses unto my son Evan Jones his heirs and assigns for ever.

I give and bequeath to my daughter Catherine the sum of One hundred and eighty pounds.

I give and bequeath to my daughter Jane the sum of One hundred and eighty pounds.

I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth the sum of One hundred and eighty pounds.

I give and bequeath to my son Owen the sum of One hundred and eighty pounds.

I give and bequeath to my son Edward the sum of One hundred and eighty pounds.

I give and bequeath to my son John the sum of One hundred and eighty pounds.

All which legacies I do direct to be paid by my Executrix and Executor herein after named and to each of my said children as shall have attained their respective ages of Twenty one years at the time of my decease the same to be paid them within twelve calendar months next after my decease and to each of my said children as or shall be infants at the time of my decease and being Sons as and when they shall respectively attain their respective ages of Twenty one years. And being daughters at their respective age or ages of Twenty one years or day or days of marriage which shall first happen and it is my Will that in the mean time the Interest of their respective Portions shall go and be paid in and towards their Maintenance and Education. And I do hereby declare that in the case of the death of some or one of my said children before he she or they shall be entitled to receive the Legacy heretofore given and bequeathed to them respectively. Then I do direct that the Legacy or Share of him her or them so dying shall go and be paid to the survivor or survivors of my said six children in equal share and proportions.

I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary the wife of John Prichard of Pwllheli Shopkeeper the sum of Ten pounds.

I give and bequeath to my daughter Emma the wife of Mathew Fleming of Carnarvon, Woollen Draper the sum of five pounds.

I give and bequeath to my Nephew Ellis Roberts the sum of Five pounds to be paid them respectively by my Executrix and Executor within six months next after my decease.

It is my will and meaning and I do hereby direct that my said wife Anne shall within two calendar months next after my decease make her election to take the benefit of the settlement made upon her marriage with me or the benefit that shall accrue to her make this my Will. It being my intention and meaning that she shall have only one or the other. I do hereby request of Mr Griffith Williams of Llwyngwyn to see that such of my said children as are infants are properly maintained and educated and that their said Legacies and Portions shall be well and effectively served until they shall attain their said Ages of Twenty one years. All the rest residue and remainder of my monies goods chattles and personal estate

I give and bequeath to my said wife Anne and to my said son Evan equally to and amongst them share and share alike. And I do hereby nominate and appoint them my said wife Anne and son Evan Executirx and Executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills. In witness whereof the said Evan Jones the Testator have hereunto set my hand and seal the seventeenth day of August in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and fourteen (1814).

Signed sealed published and declared by the said Testator Evan Jones as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us, who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other subscribed our names as witnesses thereto.

On the Fourteenth day of July in the year 1815 the above Will and the codicil thereunto annexed were insinuated proved approved and in common form of Law decreed valid and administration granted to the above named Executors Evan Jones and Anne Jones they being first sworn in common form of Law, and that the whole of the Goods, Chattels and Credits of the said deceased do not amount in value to £1500. before me Williams Surrogate.

Probate granted 25th September 1815.

A codicil or Schedule made after my Will is sealed. Be it known to all men by these presents that, I Evan Jones of Penychain Yeoman have made and declared that my last Will and Testament in writing, bearing date 17th August 1814. I the said Evan Jones do by these presents contained in this Codicil confirm and ratify my said last will, and to give and bequeath unto my son Owen Jones a piece of land and two cottages on it containing five acres of land or thereabout called by me Bryncelin Ucha lying near Llithfan in the parish of Pistill. This being a property purchased by me, and I give unto my son above named on condition of him paying unto his mother the sum of Seventeen pounds ten shillings and if his mother will require him to pay any other expenses laid out by her on the said land he is to repay it and my will and meaning is that this codicil be esteemed and adjudged to be part of my said Will and Testament, and that all things therein contained be faithfully performed, in a fair and ample manner, in every respect, as if the same were set down in my said will. In witness whereof, I the said Evan Jones have hereunto set my hand and seal the 18th day of March One thousand eight hundred and fifteen. Signed sealed and published by the Testator Evan Jones as Codicil to his last Will and Testament in the presence of us whom under subscribed our names as witnesses here unto.
