Richard Griffith, Abererch, Labourer : Will 1766.

In the name of God Amen, the Twelvth day of March 1766.

I Richard Griffith of the parish of Abererch in the County of Carnarvon and Diocese of Bangor, Labourer, being in perfect health mind and memory thanks be to God for the same, and calling unto mind the mortality of the Body and knowing that it is appointed for all men one to die, do make this and ordain it as my Last Will and Testament, that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in decent Christian Burial at the discretion of my Executrix whom after shall be mentioned / Not doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and touching such worldly estate and goods wherewith it hath pleased the Almighty God to Bless me in this Life I give devise and dispose the same in the following form and manner as followeth.

I give and bequeath unto my daughter Jane, Half a guinea.

Also I give and bequeath unto my Grandaughter Jane Humphrey and Mary Jones my beloved wife all and singular my money goods and chattels and creditors and what soever I am possessed of whome. Both I likewise make constitute and ordain to be Sole Executrixes of this my last Will and Testament. I mean to equally divided between them. In witness of whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written.

But be it further known that it is my will that if my wife Mary happens to die before my Grandaughter Jane Humphreys that I bequeath the whole to my Grandaughter Jane Humphrey, that is her share that is … of the said Mary Jones to be by her freely enjoyed.

On the 21st day of July in the year 1766 the within written Will was insinuated proved approved and in common form of Law decreed valid and Administration granted to the Executrixes within mentioned viz. Mary Jones and Jane Humphrey, they being first personally sworn on the Holy Evangelists as the Law directs by me.
