Griffith Jones, Pencaerau, Aberdaron, Shopkeeper : Will 1844.
In the name of God Amen.I Griffith Jones of Penycaerau in the Parish of Aberdaron, in the County of Carnarvon, Shopkeeper doth make publish and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following viz.
First I do give and Bequeath to my son Owen all my Personal Estate lying and being in the several parishes of Aberdaron and Rhiw, called and known by the several names of Shop Penycaerau and the House of David Roberts Smith and all the land belong to them, also Rhos y lludw – Caeforys, Cae Forgun. Llain Evan Bengam, Cae pen y bryn, Ty Cerrig and the Coal yard, Penymaes and Bron y foel and all the land that belongs to them in the Parish of Aberdaron. Also two houses and Gardens called and known by the name Terfyn in the Parish of Rhiw and to his heirs for ever, but is not to have possession of them till he be twenty one years of age.
Second I do give and bequeath to my daughter Mary the sum of fifty pounds.
Third I do give and bequeath to my daughter Catharine the sum of fifty pounds.
Fourth I do give and bequeath to my daughter Ann the sum of fifty pounds.
Fifth I do give and bequeath to my daughter Elinor the sum of fifty pounds.
Sixth I do give and bequeath to my daughter Jane the sum of fifty pounds.
Lastly I nominate constitute and appoint my loving wife Catharine Jones to be my Sole Executrix and residuary legatee of this my last Will and Testament and all my goods cattle and chattels paper papers bond or bonds all my ready money credit and effects and to have the rent of my said personal estate till my son Owen aforesaid being twenty one years of age, but if my said wife Catharine Jones happen to married then my said son Owen is to receive the rent aforesaid estate but the house and shop is to her my said wife during her life and also if she my said wife shall married as aforesaid then I do give and bequeath between my five named daughters all any goods paper or papers bond or bonds cattle and chattels all my ready money credit and effects share and share alike, also I do give and bequeath to my grandson Evan Thomas Penarfynydd the sum of five pounds. This and this only is to revoking all other Will or Wills by me heretofore made as witness my hand and seal this 7th day of May 1844.

Codicil to this my last Will , my will is that my said son Owen shall not use no more money than from one to two hundred pounds on the said estate that is other side written nor sell it neither during his life dated the day and year above written and also the money bequeathed to my daughters is not to be paid to them till they be one and twenty years of age unless their mother married.

On the twelfth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty four the aforesaid written Will was insinuated proved approved and in common form of Law decreed valid and Administration granted to the above named Catharine Jones, Widow, and Sole Executrix, she being first sworn in common form of Law, and that the whole of the Goods, Chattels, Effects and Credits of the said deceased do not amount in value to the sum of Fifteen Hundred Pounds.

The testator died on the 8th day of May 1844.
A true and perfect Inventory of all the Goodss, Credit and Effects of the late Griffith Jones, Shopkeeper, Penycaerau in the Parish of Aberdaron in the County of Carnarvon and Diocese of Bangor, deceased made and appraized by us this 3rd day of June 1844.
