John Evan, Gwyddel, Aberdaron, Farmer : Will 1799.

 In the name of God Amen.

I John Evan of Gwyddel in the Parish of Aberdaron in the County of Carnarvon , Farmer do make publish and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say. Imprimis.

I give devise and bequeath that messuage and lands consisting of two fields or closes with all its appurtanances called Cae Tan y Bryn being part of my Farm Gwyddel aforesaid unto my youngest son John to have and to hold to him and his Heirs for ever and further my will is that in case my wife Anne should choose to live at Cae Tan y Bryn as tenant from year to year, that she be preferred as tenant before another person at an equal rent.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Anne one wainscot, two bedsteads which I now lie on with the bed, two sheets, two blankets, one counterpane together with another new counterpane now at the weavers, also one deal ? that is near my bed – also his own small Box lock and ? Also a small cupboard now in my chamber and also the sum of five pounds five shillings of good and lawful money of Great Britain to be paid her the following day after my funeral.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Anne In case she should retire to her own country the sum of five shillings.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my eldest son John aforesaid the sum of Twenty Pounds of lawful money.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Jane our oaken bedstead, deal wainscot, bed and bedding, two blankets, two sheets and a new counterpane. Item the sum of fifteen pounds of lawful money. Immediately after my decease I desire and request that John Davies Blacksmith and David Jones his son both of the village of Aberdaron in the County aforesaid do act as Trustees and Guardians to all my children and I do hereby constitute and appoint the said John Davies and David Jones, Trustees and Guardians to all intents and purposes according to the terms of this Will – and moreover my Will and Meaning is that if they the said John Davies and David Jones should find and make out after that they have ascertained the real value of my Effects that my son John has been ? dealt with according to this my distribution I say my wife and my Meaning is that they the Trustees and Guardians aforesaid should subtract conscientiously something more towards clothing of my said son John out of my Effects not otherwise disposed of.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Ellin the sum of five pounds of lawful money. And lastly I give and bequeath unto John Davies and David Jones aforesaid all the rest residue and remainder of all my stock cattle and chattels ready money, notes, bonds and every other security for money whatsoever. In trust for the use and benefit of my daughters Lowry and Ellin but in case either of them should die in their infancy my will is that my son John aforesaid should take share and share alike with the survivor.

I do constitute and appoint John Davies and David Jones heretofore mentioned Executors of this my last Will and Testament and I do hereby revoke and annul all manner of Wills by me at any time heretofore made and I do make publish and declare this only to be my last Will and Testament as witness my hand and seal this twenty third of April in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety five.

Signed sealed and declared by the Testator as his last Will and Testament in our presence who at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses

On the 8th day of January 1799 the within written Will was insinuated proved appraised and in common form of Law decreed valid and Administration granted to David Jones the ? Trustee and Executor appointed therein, he being first personally sworn on the holy Evangelists as the Law directs by me
